Redstone idea looks cool but with a bunch of them you're forced to light them all up with levers or other redstone sources, makes that particular room difficult to set up interiors for. If you do use a ton, i recommend you hide it in an attic so you dont have to worry about interiors.
I'm creating a medieval base in survival on a private server at the moment but will be a spawn submission for a server spawn competition in the future.

The Don Fuer Grand LIbrary that once existed on the Minewind server before it was griefed has been resurrected in a medieval spawn build I built solo. This build has been resurrected a 2nd time in my medieval build. This is a video showcasing the entire medieval build and was submitted as a spawn submission on a server called MineWind and was accepeted (but is not implemented yet). This is a solo medieval build, with builder credits being given to 3 others whose builds I copied (with their permission) from Minewind and into my medieval build. I built all of this on a different survival server to ensure it did not get griefed - a fate that the original builds had suffered. If anyone is interested in seeing the Don Fuer Grand Library in person one day on the Minewind server let me know and I can provide an update once it's been implemented.
